About King's Academy
The School
In 2007, a new college preparatory school opened its doors to eager and highly qualified students from around the world. The campus, designed on 144 acres by a renowned architect, is among the most beautiful in the world, situated in a picturesque valley, close to a capital city and several culturally significant sites.
The school’s thirty-three buildings include 9 single-gender dorms with single student bedrooms and multiple faculty residences, a dining hall and student union, an auditorium and theater, a central academic building, a 50,000-book library, a spiritual center and one of the finest athletics facilities in the region. KA maintains an average class size of 15 students, a student teacher ratio of 10:1, and graduates attend the most prestigious colleges in the world.
The school is King’s Academy (www.kingsacademy.edu.jo). It is located in Madaba, Jordan.
The Education Legacy of HM King Abdullah II
King’s Academy fulfills a long-held dream of King Abdullah II: to have in Jordan a boarding school that embraces the same academic rigor, breadth of extracurricular stimulation and respect for community ethics and values that he experienced as a high school student at Deerfield Academy in the United States.
In founding King’s Academy, His Majesty also hoped to allow future generations to share one of the most profound experiences of his formative years. During his Deerfield years, Abdullah established lifetime friendships with people who were given the great opportunity for a Deerfield education via its then need-blind admissions policy. His Majesty included that powerful concept in KA’s founding principles.
