Q. Are my donations tax deductible?


A. All funds collected by the King’s Academy Opportunity Fund are transferred to King’s Academy for scholarship purposes. King’s Academy has 501(c)(3) non-profit status and issues a donation certification form directly to donors. Your deductibility will depend on your personal tax considerations. Please ask your professional accountant for further details.

 

Q. What is the profile of a typical KA Opportunity Fund scholar?


A. An Opportunity Fund scholar will be a boy or girl who has applied or is considering applying to King’s Academy, preferably for his or her 9th grade (freshman) year. The student will demonstrate:

• All the qualities of acceptance to KA

• Exceptional intellectual curiosity, self-awareness, and aspirations to to help create a better world
• A written application or personal interview with our Board
• Financial need.

 

Q. What is the annual cost of an Opportunity Fund scholarship?
 

A. The Opportunity Fund estimates our annual Scholarship benefit based on the cost of attendance for a Board Student according to King's Academy. This amount is $53,250/year, and includes instruction, meals, accommodation, full access to the Athletic Center facilities, laboratory equipment and materials, health center and student activities fee, textbooks, required educational school trips within Jordan, bus fees for day students, one school uniform (blazer, tie, vest) and student health insurance. 

 

Q. Isn’t financial aid available at King's Academy?
 

A. Yes, nearly 45% of all KA students receive some form of financial aid. King's Academy describes its

financial aid policy like this: "King’s Academy accepts students on their own merit without regard to their family’s financial resources. Accordingly, no student should be discouraged from applying to King’s Academy because his or her parents cannot pay full tuition." The Opportunity Fund was created for students "of great promise and modest means".

 

Q. Is there a minimum donation required? What is the average gift size?


A. The King’s Academy Opportunity Fund has received donations of as little as $10 and as much as $130,000.  A growing number of donors elected to make a monthly donation - an easy option on our donation page.

 

Q. Do KA Opportunity Fund funds recipients know their education is being supported by these funds?

A. Yes. The Scholar and his/her family are notified via a private communication, and our Board is in regular contact with the Scholar, through school channels.

 

Q. Are KA Opportunity Fund scholarships announced publicly?

 

A. An announcement of the award of scholarship funds made each year a new Opportunity Scholar is selected

 

Q. Will a KA Opportunity Fund recipient receive the same financial aid award each year?

 

A. The terms of the Opportunity Scholarship are that all school-related expenses are paid for 4 years.
