According to Giving USA, charitable giving broke records in 2017, breaking the $400 Billion mark for the first time in history. The total sum given to charities, $410.02 Billion, represents a 5.2 percent increase over 2016.
Giving to educational causes increased 6.2% over the previous year, which is in line with the increases in seven of the nine major types of giving, identified by Giving USA.
These categories include religion, education, human services, foundations, health organizations, public-society benefit organizations, arts/culture/humanities organizations, international affairs, and environmental and animal organizations.
