Eight brave students moved the King’s Academy community with vibrant speeches and personal reflections during the Eighth Annual Declamations Competition on April 19th in the Abdul Majeed Shoman Auditorium.
After weeks of preparation and hard work, King’s students shared their thoughts – in both Arabic and English- on topics ranging from Jordan’s public school education to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In the KA Declamation Competition format, freshmen compete against sophomores and juniors compete against seniors. Eight finalists – two from each grade level – presented for the panel of 12 judges from faculty, staff and students. This year, Jordan’s former minister of culture, Jeryis Samawi, headed the panel as guest judge.
The 2017 Declamation Competition winners are: Rakan Haddadin ’19, Zaid Al-Amarat ’19, Ruby Hawari ’18 and Rand Al-Harahsheh ’18 who were crowned the school champions.
