The King’s Academy Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) provides exceptional middle school students from underprivileged families throughout Jordan with the opportunity to study English for three summers on the KA campus. In 2011, I was fortunate to lead a small group of Emma Willard School students to work at SEP, a life-changing experience for everyone involved. The 7th graders I taught there inspired me with their thirst for knowledge and joy of learning.
I have also had the privilege and pleasure to work with and befriend exceptional graduates from King’s Academy, both stateside and on King’s spectacular campus in Madaba. Several of them were recipients of scholarship while there. It is clear how transformative the opportunity to get a King’s education was for them.
I share with all these students a passion for King’s Academy and the pursuit of a global education. Their great hopes for the future of Jordan and the Middle East give me hope, too. I firmly believe the future of Jordan and the region is dependent upon these developing leaders, and that by continuing to open young hearts and minds we can change their lives and this world.
